Biography:
Judy Adams is Adams Home Care Consulting, Inc.'s President and Owner. She has provided clinical and operational consultation and education services to home care, home health, and hospice organizations nationwide since she opened her company in 2009. Before that time, she worked in several healthcare organizations with two large national consulting and advisory firms. Over the last 15 years, she has held a variety of clinical supervisory, quality, administrative and educational positions in various healthcare settings over a long nursing career with more than 15 years in home health and hospice. Her experience involves regulatory compliance issues related to reimbursement, certification, and other home healthcare operational aspects. She has also provided hundreds of education sessions on ICD-9 and ICD-10 coding, OASIS, regulatory topics, audits, and numerous other aspects of home health operational and clinical operations for individual agencies, state associations, and national organizations.
Judy earned a Diploma in Nursing from Norwalk Hospital School of Nursing in 1961 and her bachelor's degree in nursing from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in 1980. She has been certified as a Homecare Coding Specialist – Diagnosis (HCS-D) since 2003 and a Home Care Clinical Specialist – OASIS (HCS-O) since March 2011 from the Board of Medical Specialty Coding and Compliance and became an AHIMA-approved ICD-10-CM Trainer in June 2012. As an active North Carolina Association for Home Care member, she serves on the Division of Health Services Regulation (DHSR) Liaison Committee. She regularly contributes to articles in several national publications. She has developed educational materials related to home health and hospice for various local and national organizations.
